At Gefion Dog Training Club, we welcome new members with all breeds, whether completely new dog owners or experienced handlers.

SIT - "is this what you mean?" (members of the Hoo class)

Gefion Dog Training Club currently runs three training evenings, in different areas of Kent.  The club has experienced instructors who will be ready to help with any problems your dog may be having.

We meet on Tuesday evenings at Wye Village Hall, Wye, Ashford, and start training at 6.30pm.

Puppies learning the very important sit stay Every Wednesday evening we meet at the Parochial Hall, Ingram Road, Gillingham.  Classes start at 5.45m and run through till 10.15pm.  Classes last half an hour, which is plenty of time as your dogs will not be able to concentrate for a longer period.

We also have a weekly class at the Triangles Community Centre, Poultons Close, Dover on Thursday evenings, starting at 6.30pm.

Puppies are welcome to join as soon as their vaccinations are completed.  All puppies will start in a special socialising class, involving very basic training, playing and meeting other dogs and handlers.  These social skills are absolutely vital for a puppy, and will ensure that your pup grows into an adult dog that is confident and comfortable when he is around other dogs and people.

All the classes that we run are conducted through the Kennel Club.  As handlers complete each course they are awarded a certificate of achievement.

We also run a separate class for older dogs, who can be taught new tricks!  If basic manners are lacking or maybe you have just re-homed an older dog you will also be very welcome to come along and start training.

We will aim to have a vet nurse attend each puppy course to help show handlers some basic bandaging techniques and also discuss some common problems we might face with our dogs.

By learning how to put a bandage on your dogs foot you could help to save yourself a visit to the vet and the associated costs. This is quite a common bandage and I am sure this knowledge will be useful at some point of your dog's life. Once the vet nurse has shown you what to do, you will have the chance to join in and bandage your own dog.

If you're not sure whether the classes are right for you and your dog, you are most welcome to come along for a coffee and take a look at the classes running, without commitment, before booking your own dog into a new course.

Remember that coming to weekly classes is just the start of your dog's education and you will need to continue with regular training if you are to succeed.

Make it fun and your dog will learn much quicker.

Where did he go?This only gives you a few details of the Club, but please call in to a local venue and see for yourself.

Please do not bring your dog until a course has been booked.  This is to ensure that dogs are covered by our insurance and also allows owners to watch without distraction.  You may bring your dog along once a course is booked and watch with your dog until your new course starts.

Addresses of our 3 clubs and details of new course dates can be found on the contact page of this website.

The instructors at the Dover club If you do not have the time to commit to regular training then maybe residential training for your dog would be more suitable.

We also offer microchipping, to ensure that your much-loved dog is never lost.

We had collections at Christmas 2006 from our training clubs and donated everything to Janet, at the sanctuary. We also raised over £250 for them. This was all possible because of the generosity of members at Gefion Dog Training Club.  Thanks to everyone involved.
