I became interested in obedience training after obtaining my GSD 'Lucky', in 1974 and  joined Ditton Dog Training Club.  I started entering obedience shows in 1975 and won a Pre-Beginner class with her in 1976.   As I was now getting the bug for obedience I bought my first Border Collie 'Harranvelt Buccaneer' (Moss)
in July 1976.   We competed all over the country at obedience shows, and together we went from Beginners to Championship "C", with the highest place gained being a 3rd in the championship class at the Hastings Championship Show.

In the following years my love for dog shows and instructing grew.   I have worked German Shepherds, Border Collies & Australian Shepherds in obedience but there will never be another dog like 'Moss' as he taught me so much.

Instructing at Ditton continued until about 2000, when because of running my own training clubs, I found it very difficult to continue.   I am still the Chairman of the club and help to run the club's Open, Championship & Limit shows each year.

Ron giving advice on a dog with a pulling problemI now hold my own training clubs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Wye, Gillingham and Dover.  Training can also be arranged at the kennels.  We have secure fields and distractions on site.  This will work out slightly cheaper than me coming to you.

All my clubs run the Kennel Club awards from the 'Puppy Assessment Test' to the 'Gold Good Citizens Test', plus a further obedience class for those interested in competitive obedience.

I also specialise in dogs with behavioural problems, which means I visit their homes to try to educate the owners on what is causing the unwanted behaviour, the most common being aggression.  A meeting can also be arranged at the kennels as an alternative to residential training.

My wife Teresa and I run Companion Dog Shows from time to time, which raise a great deal of money for charity, as well as being great fun for all the competitors.  One such show was held on Saturday 29th May 2004.  Click here to see some photos from the show.

Another Companion Dog Show in aid of a good cause was held on Saturday 4th August 2007.

I count myself extremely lucky to be doing a job that I love, which started as a hobby many years ago.
